SAILING SCHOOL

Our Youth Sailing Program has been adjusted in consideration of the latest Covid-19 guidelines and limitations. Our modifications are intended to keep our students, instructors and members safe and healthy by following NYS and CDC guidelines. We will offer a 6-week program beginning July 13. Students without prior sailing experience will only be admitted to the program if they are (a) at least 9 years old by the end of the calendar year and able to sail single-handedly or (b) can sail with another student with sufficient prior sailing experience in the same household. Course schedules are still being finalized but we expect each course level to include a minimum of 8 hours instruction per week. The program fee for 6 weeks is $720. The boat rental fee, if necessary, for the 6 weeks is $325. If you have any questions about the sailing school, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. SYC's junior sailing program is one of the best, most comprehensive junior sailing programs available anywhere. Twelve hours a week of instruction are offered for eight weeks during July and August, with excellent student/instructor ratios. Our children learn the beauty and fun of sailing, and for those interested, racing skills are nurtured to a high degree. Southold Yacht Club sailors have consistently placed highly in area regattas and some have scored well in national championships. Our instructors are extremely well qualified to teach sailing skills, always emphasizing safety first. All families enrolled in the sailing school must purchase a family membership (except First Mates, see membership information page).
